Ajax memorial field

In collaboration with AFC Ajax, PC Uitvaart has set up a special place for fans where they can become one with their favourite football club: the Ajax memorial field. The Ajax memorial field is a meaningful place for loved ones to visit and remember the deceased. If an Ajax fan passes away and chooses cremation, then the ash can be spread here.

Field and dug-out from De Meer stadium 

At Herdenkingspark Westgaarde, there is a final resting place for real Ajax fans: the Ajax memorial field. This field is set up as a football pitch and contains grass from the football stadium that was home to Ajax from 1934 to 1996: De Meer stadium. The grass from this legendary stadium was brought to Herdenkingspark Westgaarde on August 12, 1996. One of the dug-outs from the stadium in Amsterdam-Oost can also be found at the Ajax memorial field. Many legendary players and coaches from Ajax spent time in this dug-out. Visitors can take a moment for themselves in the same place where so many players spent time during games.

Graffiti wall 

Every Ajax fan knows the graffiti wall in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. This wall is permanently bound to them. In collaboration with the Ajax supporters’ club, a graffiti wall was designed for the Ajax memorial field at Herdenkingspark Westgaarde. The wall was realized in August 2020.

The wall depicts Johan Cruijff, Jari Litmanen, Patrick Kluivert and Jan Vertonghen. They symbolize the many national and international successes that Ajax has achieved. A cosy and meaningful place for every Ajax fan.

Possibilities 

Spreading the ash of an Ajax fan on the Ajax memorial field can be done as soon as you have received the ash from the crematorium. Spreading the ash is also possible even if the funeral took place (a long time) earlier or was held somewhere else.  

Ajax commemorative tile 

If you want a lasting memory, we can place an Ajax commemorative tile for the deceased on the wall of the memorialfield. The special commemorative tile depicts a football.
